ORDINANCE N0. 1042 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 962 ENTITLED <br />"AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING THE BUSINESS <br />OF CARRYING PASSENGERS FOR HIRE IN MOTOR VE~UiCLES <br />IN THE CITY OF SANTA AMA." <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA AMA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 962 entitled "An Ordinance Regulating <br /> and Licensing the Business of Carrying Passengers for Hire in Motor Vehicles in <br /> the City or. Santa Ana", is hereby amended by the addition thereto of a new <br /> section, to be number Section 25~ which said new section shall be in words and <br /> figures as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> "Section 25~: <br /> <br /> (a) It shall be unlawful for any driver to drive or operate any <br />taxicab or motor bus upon any highway in the City of Santa Ana for more than <br />twelve consecutive hours, or for more than twelve hours spread over a total of <br />sixteen (18) consecutive hours, or to operate or drive any taxicab or motor bus <br />upon any public highway in the City of Santa Ana after having been on duty, <br />either operating or driving a taxicab or motor bus, or in any office of the <br />holder of any taxicab or motor bus permit hereUnder, or at any taxicab or bus <br />stand, or any combination of such acts, for more than twelve consecutive hours~ <br />or for more than twelve hours spread over a total of sixteen (16) consecutive <br />hours. No driver shall operate or drive upon any highway in the City of Santa <br />Ana any taxicab or motor bus unless he shall have had at least eight (8) <br />consecutive hours rest, while not on duty, within the last preceding 24 hours~ <br />during which eight consecutive hours he shall have performed no acts or duties in <br />connection with such taxicab or motor bus business. <br /> <br /> (b) It shall be unlawful for the holder of any owner's permit <br />under this ordinance to cause or permit any driver to violate any of the provisio~ <br />of subdivision (a) hereof while in his or its employ." <br /> <br /> SECTI0~ 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinanc~ <br />and shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive issues of the <br />ORANGE COUNTY R~PORTER, a daily newspaper, printed, published and circulated in <br />the City of Santa Ana, and hereby designated for that purpose, and thirty (30) <br />days thereafter shall take effect and be in force. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Santa Ana at its <br />regular adjourned meeting held on the 29th day of March, 1937. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />E.
