<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
<br />REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION,
<br />REPAIR, ENLARGEg~ENT, ALTERATION, RE-
<br />MOVAL, D~,{OLITION, S~JITATION AND
<br />OCCUPANCY OF ALL BUILDINGS AND STEUC-
<br />TUHES IN SAID CITY, PROVIDING FOR
<br />PERMITS AND PENALTIES THEREUNDER AND
<br />REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1036.

<br />THE COU~CIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TAA~A DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> SECTION l: That a certain printed document, three copies of which are on file
<br />in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Ana, being marked and designated
<br />as "Uniform Building Code, 1937 Edition", which was published in April, 1937, by
<br />Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference, including the appendix thereof, being
<br />sections numbered 101 to 4903 both inclusive, excepting sections 4603 and 4604, be and
<br />the same is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the City of Santa Aha, for the
<br />regulation and erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, removal,
<br />demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance, of all
<br />buildings and structures in the City of Santa Ana, providing for the issuance of permits
<br />and collection of fees therefor, providing penalties for violation of such Code, and
<br />each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of such
<br />Uniform Building Code, 1937 Edition, published in April, 193V, by Pacific Coast Building
<br />Officials Conference, on file in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby referred to,
<br />adopted and made a part hereof to the same 6fleet as if fully set forth in this
<br />ordinance.

<br /> SECTION 2: That said Uniform Building Code, 1937 Edition, published April,
<br /> 1937, by Pacific Coast Building Conference, as adopted by this ordinance, is hereby
<br /> amended in the following particulars, to-wit:
<br />
<br /> (a) That Section 203 of said Code is hereby amended by striking out therefrom
<br /> the following words:
<br />
<br /> "For a total valuation of $50.00 or less, no fee".
<br />
<br /> and there is hereby inserted therein in lieu thereof the following:
<br />
<br /> "For a total v~luation from $20.00 to $50.00, both
<br /> inclusive, the fee shall be $1.00".
<br />
<br /> That there is hereby added to Section 203 the following:
<br />
<br /> "In addition to the foregoing fees, the applicant
<br /> shall pay the following fees for plastering:
<br />
<br /> "For the first 1000 sq. yards, one (1) cent per
<br /> sq. yard.
<br />
<br /> "For all plsstering oveD 1000 sq. yards up to
<br /> 3000 sq. yards, one-half cent per sq. yard.
<br />
<br /> "For all plastering over 3000 sq. yards one-
<br /> quarter cent per sq. yard.
<br />
<br /> "There shall be~ however, a minimum fee for
<br /> plastering of $1.00".
<br />
<br /> (b) That the second paragraph, or last two lines, of Section 2527, is hereby
<br /> ~nended so as to read as follows:
<br />
<br /> "Minimum clearance between bottom of floor
<br /> Joists snd the ground beneath shall be
<br /> twenty-four inches (24"). The ground under-
<br /> neath floor joists shall be leveled or
<br /> smoothed off so as to maintain a reasonably
<br /> even surface under the entire area covered
<br /> by the floor joists.
