<br />pLACES: REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT IIERE~
<br />WITH, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIgLATION
<br />THEREOF."

<br />THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF S~ITA ~A DO ORDAI~ AS FOLL~fS:
<br />
<br /> SECTION 1: That Section I of Ordinance No. 1053 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
<br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA A~IA PROHIBITING ~tE DISTRIBUTION OF HANDBILLS, DODGERS,
<br />CIRC~JLARS, NEWSPAPERS, BOOKLETS, ~D OTHPd~ PRINTED ~J~TTER OR ADVERTISE~.~NT IN
<br />CERTAIN PLACES: REPE~ING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT ItEREWITH, AND PROVIDING FOR
<br />PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF''1, be and the same is hereby amended so as to
<br />read as follows:

<br /> "SECTION I: It shall be unlawful for any person, finn, corporation, or
<br />association, either as principal, agent, employer or employee, to throw, cast,
<br />deposit, distribute, pass out, give away, scatter, circulate, or deliver, any
<br />handbill, dodger, circular, newspaper, paper, booklet, or other printed matter
<br />or advertisement in the yard or grounds of ~ny house, building, structure, or on
<br />any porch or doorstep, or vestlbulc, or in any public hallway thereof, when said
<br />house, building or structure .is not in the possession or under the control of
<br />the party so distributing the same, ~or in any public street, highway, alley,
<br />cour2 or other public place, or in Shy vehiclo thereon, or upon any vacant real
<br />property, in the City of Santa Ana.
<br />
<br /> This ordinance shall not be deemed to prohibit the distribution of
<br />United States mail, nor the delivery of any newspaper, nor to the sale of separat
<br />copies of such newspapers on the streets of said City.
<br />
<br /> The tenu "newspaper" as herein used, shall be construed to mean a
<br />publication which complies with tho requirements of Sections 4460 and 4463 of the
<br />Political Code of the State of California".
<br />
<br /> SECTION 2: The City Cle~ shall certify to the passage of this
<br />ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive issues
<br />of the ORANGE CO~TTREPORTER, a daily newspaper, printed, published and circulate
<br />in the City of Santa Ana, and hereby designated for that purpose, and thirty (30)
<br />days thereafter shall take effect and be in force.

<br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Santa Ana at its
<br />regular meeting held on the 15th day of November, 193V.
