RESOLUTION NO. 62-55 REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES COFLMISSION TO CONTINUE UNCHANGED <br /> ITS POLICY OF ASSESSING COSTS FOR ¥~INTAINING AND <br /> OPERATING RAILROAD CROSSING PROTECTIVE DEVICES <br /> AGAINST THE RAILROAD COMPANIES INVOLlrED <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is information of a present attempt to shift to local governmental agencies maintenance and <br /> <br />operating costs of protective devices at street-railroad intersections; a cost traditionally borne by the railroad <br />companies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the financial problems of the cities in rapidly growing California have become increasingly acute, and <br />every attempt to increasingly burden the local budget should be opposed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. the equities of the situation should indicate that local governments are bearing a presently heavy <br />share of the total crossing construction and protection costs. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha that it urgently requests the <br />Public Utilities Commission of the State of California to continue unchanged the assessment of maintenance costs of <br />railroad crossing protective devices against the railroad company involved in each case. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That a Certified Copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Public Utilities Commiss- <br />ion to the attention of the President thereof, to the Santa Aha ghamber of Commerce a~nd to the Orange County <br />Associated Chamber of Commerce with requests for support from said organizations. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 5th day of <br />March, 1962. <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> Marion Suttner <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />A.A.Hall <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> I, MARION SUTTHER, do hereby certify that I am the Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Ana; that the fore- <br />i!going Resolution was regularly introduced to said Council at its regular meeting held on the 5th day of March, 1962, <br />.and was at said meeting regularly passed and adopted ~y the following vote, to-wit: <br /> <br />Royal E.
