RESOLUTION NO. 62-70 EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO <br />THE REGISTER, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES, THE SANTA <br />ANA INDEPENDENT AND KWIZ RADIO STATION FOR THE <br />OUTSTANDING, EXTENSIVE AND FAVORABLE NEWS COVERAGE <br />GIVEN TO THE SPECIAL REVENUE ~%TER BOND ELECTION <br />HELD MARCH 13, 1962 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Aha in common with all other <br />municipalities in the Santa Ana River Basin has been confronted with <br />unprecedented population growth, increasing water consumption and <br />causing an overdraught on the Basin's underground water and on the <br />Metropolitan feeder line in the area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, after study it was determined that Santa Ana needed <br />new trunk water lines, more reservoir capacity and capacity rights in <br />the proposed "East Orange County Feeder No. 2", which resulted in the <br />call of a special election to vote on the issuance of revenue bonds <br />to provide said water facilities for the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha hereby recognizes that the large majority of "Yes" <br />votes at said election on March 13, 1962, was the expression of <br />informed voters; made possible by groups of citizens within the City <br />giving of their own time and money and by the splendid and extensive <br />news coverage afforded this Bond Election by the Register, the Los <br />Angeles Times, the Santa Ana Independent and KWIZ Radio Station. This <br />City Council recognizes that no group of electors can vote intelligently <br />without being adequately informed on the issue or issues presented to <br />them, and during this last Election the mass con~unication media, that <br />is, the newspapers circulated in the City and the local radio broad- <br />casting station, gave many inches and many minutes of news to acquaint <br />the people of this City with the future water needs of the City, with <br />the purposes proposed to be served by the proceeds of the bonds to <br />be voted upon and factual data about the nature of the bond issue and <br />the effect it would have upon the individuals residing in the City. <br />This outstanding public service clearly shows the importance to the <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
