inches long with two nails on each side of joint <br />at splices; all Joints or intersections shall be <br />mitered, and butt joints are prohibited unless <br />tied with metal straps at least six (6) inches <br />on each side of Joint. <br /> <br />"All outside wall boarding shall be carried dov~ <br />at least five (5) inches on the joist and nailed <br />with five 5d common galvanized nails to each <br />board, and floor joists shall have a continuous <br />two (2) inch timber, at least th~ same ~idth as <br />joists, spiked to the ends of each Joist with <br />two 20d common spikes to rebeive said boards and <br />required nailing. <br /> <br />"Foundations shall be required as in Section 2204. <br /> <br />"Floor construction shall be required as in Section <br />3203, and Amendments thereto. <br /> <br />"Roof covering shall be required as in Section 2211. <br /> <br />"No wall or partition shall have a total length of <br />more than twenty (20) feet without a lateral support <br />by a partition or buttTess at least six (6) feet <br />wide at right angles to wall, or partition or other <br />approved bracing acceptable to the Building Inspector. <br /> <br />"No board and flat stud construction shall be erected <br />on lots, tracts, or plots of land where such lots, <br />tracts, or plots of land are restricted to type or <br />value of building unless such building meets all <br />requirements of such lots, tracts, 0~ plots of land, <br />or a one hundred (100) per cent of the signatures <br />of property owners in such lots, tracts, or plots <br />of land, giving their consent to build such type of <br />construction." <br /> <br />(h) That Subdivision ~g) of Section 2524 of said Codeis <br /> <br />hereby amended by adding at the end thereof and as a part of the last sentence <br /> <br />thereof, the following, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Provided, however, that no sole or plate shall be <br />cut for the installation of any pipe three (3) inches <br />or less in diameter, but for the installation of such <br />3 inch or smaller pipe, the sol~s and plates shall <br />be bored with a hole of a size not more than sufficient <br />to permit the installation of said pipe." <br /> <br />(i) That Section 3711 of said Code be amended by adding at the end <br /> <br />thereof the following: <br /> <br />"Any such ventilation system when ~erminating on roof <br />shall be provided with a roof c~p or hood. All such <br />vent caps or hoods, and all such gas water heater vent <br />caps or hoods shall be reverse draft circulation <br />proof, and shall be constructed of galvanized sheet <br />iron of not less than U.S. twenty-six (26) gauge, and <br />of a type acceptable to the Building Department". <br /> <br />(J) That Section 4713 of said Code shall be and the smm~ is~ereby <br /> <br />amended by changing the words "seven days" in the last line of the fourth <br /> <br />paragraph of said section, being the last line on page 307 of said Code, to the <br />words "twenty-four hours", and that said section be further amended by inserting <br /> <br />in Subdivision "b" thereof at the end of the first paragraph of said Subdivision <br /> <br />"b", the following: <br /> <br />"The second coat shall be applied by first <br />thoroughly and firmly scratching in a thin <br />layer of plaster over a dampened base and then <br />immediately plastering to the required thick- <br />ness'f. <br /> <br />(k) That Section 4720 of said Code shall be amended by adding thereto <br /> <br />at the end thereof the following: <br /> <br />"All sidewalls up to a height of six (6) feet in <br />every building to be used for a baEery, meat mar- <br />ket, confectionery, restaurant, hotel kitchen, <br />or other place where food is prepared for htunan <br />consumption; and the back of all sinks in vegetable <br />rooms and kitchens used for dairying purposes; all <br /> <br /> <br />
