ORDINANCE ~,0. 1!01 <br /> <br />MY ORDINANCE OF T1TE CITY OF SANTA ANA AI~ENDING <br />THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1940 EDITION, AS <br /> ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1090 <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF T~E CITY OF SANTA ANA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Section 2202 of The Uniform Building Code, 1940 Edition, <br />published ~y l, 1940, by Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference, as heretofore <br /> <br />adopted by Ordinance No. 1090, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ADOPTING <br /> <br />THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1940 EDITION, REGULATING T~E ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, <br />ALTERATION AND DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTL~RES IN SAID CITY, AND ?SPEALING <br />ORDINANCE NO. i054", is hereby amended so as to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "SECTION'2202. Type V buildings shall not exceed <br /> a height of thirty-eight (38') feet, in which <br /> height there shall be not more than three stories; <br /> provided that the height of a building erected on <br /> sloping ground may be thirty-eight (38') feet plus <br /> a vertical distance equal to the vertical change in <br /> slope along and in the length of any side of such <br /> building but in no case shall such height exceed <br /> forty-five (45') feet above the adjacent finished <br /> ground level; provided, further,, that spires, <br /> towers or steeples erected as a part of such build- <br /> ing and not used for habitation or storage may ex- <br /> tend not to exceed seventy-five (75') feet above <br /> the adjacent finished ground level." <br /> <br />SECTION 2: That Section 1801 of the said Uniform Building Code, 1940 Edition, <br /> <br />as Adopted by said Ordinance No. 1090, is hereby amended so as to read as <br /> <br /> "SECTION 1801. Ih Type I buildings, the structural <br /> frame shall be of structural steel or iron which <br /> shall be fire-protected, or shall be reinforced con- <br /> crete. The exterior walls, inner court walls, and <br /> walls enclosing vertical openings, shall be of fire- <br /> r~sistive construction. The roof construction shall <br /> be of fire-resistive materials or may be of wood <br /> trusses provided that the trusses are protected by <br /> not less than a one hour fire-resistive construction. <br /> The floors shall be of fire-resistive materials. <br /> Exterior doors and windows, except as specified in <br /> Sec. 1813, shall be fire-resistive c cast ruction." <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That Section 201 of the said Unifoz~.~ Building Code, 1940 Edition, <br />as adopted by said Ordinance No. 1090, is hereby amended by the addition to said Section <br /> <br />201 at the end thereof, of the following words and figures, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Computations, strain sheets, stress diagrams and other <br /> data necessary to sho~' the correctness of the plans which <br /> accompauy any plans and specifications as and when required <br /> by the Building Inspector, may be submitted by the Building <br /> Inspector to a cor~petent architect or structural engineer for <br /> checking and computation, and in the event the same are so sub- <br /> mitted by the Building'Inspector, an additional fee equal to <br /> one-half the fee for ~he building permit shall be payable to the <br /> City of S~t~ Anao" <br /> <br /> SECTi(.N 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and <br />shall cause the same to be_oublmshed' in three consecutive issues of the SA~_A'~ AMA REGIST <br /> <br />a newspaper printed, published and circulated in the City of Santa A~a, and hereby <br />desigmated for that purpose.
