ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br /> A// ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> AI/ENDING THE ELECTRIC CODE OF THE CITY <br /> OF SANTA ANAAS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE <br /> NO. 1011 OF SAID CITY. <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Sec. 16~ of the Standard Electrical Code 1933 <br />Edition, as added to said code by Sec. ~ of Ordinance No. 1Oll of the City <br />of Santa Ana, which ordinance is entitled mAN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA, TO BE KNOWN AS THE ELECTRIC CODE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, <br />CREATING THE OFFICE OF THE CITY ELECTRICAL INSPECTORAND PRESCRIBING HIS <br />DUTIES: PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE qF ELECTRICAL PERMITS, AND FOR INSPECTIONS <br />AND FIXING THE FEES THEREFOR: REGULATING THE INSTALLATION, AP~GEMENT, ALTERS <br />ATION, REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF ELECTRICAL WIRING, ELECTRIC FIXm <br />TURES, AND OTHER ELECTRIC APPLIANCES AND EQUIPMENT IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE SAME, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES <br />OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE." and adopted said <br />Code, as so amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "SECTION lsd: (A) Ail wires installed for the purpose of conducting <br /> electricity in or on any building or structure of any nature shall <br /> be enclosed in approved metal conduit, metal wire ways, race ways <br /> or gutters or other approved ducts except ~hat in the following <br /> cases, knob and tube or BX installations may be used: <br /> <br /> 1. Radio antenna or other wires not carrying more than fifty <br /> volts and twenty-five watts. <br /> <br /> 2. In locations where excessive moisture, fumes or corrosive <br /> vapors exist, or where this type of construction is im- <br /> practicable. In these cases permission shall be obtained <br /> in advance, in writing, from the City Inspector. <br /> <br /> 3. Open wiring in buildings in process of construction or in <br /> installation of open wiring used in lighting of exhibitions, <br /> fairs, celebrations, and similar displays of a temporary <br /> (not more than sixty days') nature; <br /> <br /> 4. In central and sub-stations when such wires carry a voltage <br /> that renders their installation in conduit impracticable. <br /> <br /> 5. In single family or two-f~mily residences, or dwellings not <br /> in'Fire Zone No. 1 of the City of Santa Aha, as defined and <br /> delineated in Ordinance No. 1078, and in such residences <br /> 'entrance cable' may also be used between Power source and <br /> main line switch or multlbreaker. <br /> <br /> (B) At least one 110 volt convenience outlet shall be installed <br /> <br /> in the kitchen behind the stove location. <br /> <br /> (0) Ail l~ra of signs must be illuminate~. Ail signs must be <br /> ten (10) feet above the sidewalk. Ail signs running parallel <br /> with the building must not extend out more than twelve (12) <br /> inches from the face of the building. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful to hang or to fix in position any elec- <br /> trical sign or sign designed for use as an electric sign, or <br /> which may be used as an electric sign, until such sign has been <br /> <br />inspected and approved by'the Olty Electrical Inspector." <br />SECTION 2: The 01ty Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption <br />of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive <br />issues of the SANTA ANAREGIBTER, a newspaper printed, published and circul- <br />ated in the City of Santa Aha, and hereby designated for that purpose. This <br />ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from and after its adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
