283 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1125 <br /> <br /> AN ~RDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 984, ENTITLED "AN <br /> ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, FIXING THE LICENSE <br /> FEES TO BE PAID ON DOGS, ESTABLISHING THE OFFICE OF <br /> POUNDKEEPER, AND SETTING OUT THE DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED <br /> BY HIM AND FIXING HIS COMPENSATION." <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION l: That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 984, entitled "AN ORD1-NANCE OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, FIXING THE LICENSE FEES TO BE PAID ON DOGS, ESTABLISHING THE <br />OFFICE OF POUNDKEEPER, AND'SETTING OUT THE DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED BY HIM AND FIXING <br />HIS COMPENSATION", is hereby amended so as to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Sec. 3: That it shall be the duty of the Poundkeeper to collect <br /> <br /> the licenses above provided for during each fiscal year, and when so <br /> collected he shall deliver to the person paying the license a tag, which <br /> shall be stamped with the fiscal year for which it is issued, and numbered. <br /> Such tag must be attached to the body of the dog for which it is issued, <br /> by a collar or harness on which the name and address of the owner is inscribed. <br /> The Poundkeeper shall keep a record of the licenses collected, and the tags <br /> delivered and to whom, with a brief description and name of the dog for which <br /> the same was issued and the name of the owner thereof and his address. <br /> He shall make a report to the Board of Trustees at its regular monthly <br /> meeting of the number of tags delivered and licenses collected, and shall <br /> pay to the City Treasurer moneys by him collected during the previous calendar <br /> month for licenses so issued. He shall receive such monthly compensation <br /> as shall be from time to time fixed by the City Cotmcil on a monthly salary <br /> basis." <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That Section 5 of said Ordinance No. 984 is hereby amended so as <br /> <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Sec. 5: In order to redeem or buy such dog, it will be necessary <br /> <br /> to pay the Poundkeeper $1.00 for taking up the dog, $1.00 f~ redemption <br /> thereof, and twenty-five cents per day For keeping and feeding the same. <br /> All moneys collected by the Poundkeeper as payment for such services, and <br /> moneys received from the sale Of unredeemed dogs by the Poundmaster shall <br /> be paid to the City Treasurer in the same manner and at the same time as <br /> hereinabove provided in Section 3 hereof for license fees." <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this <br />ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive issues of the <br />SANTA ANA REGISTER, a newspaper printed, published and circulated in the City of Santa <br />Ana, and hereby designated for that purpose. This ordinance shall take effect thirty <br />(30) days from and after its adoption. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL of the City of Santa Ana at its regular <br />meeting held on the 4th day of January, 1943. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Erma Keeler <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Joseph P.
