RESOLUTION NO. 62-141 URGING THE SUPPORT OF THE <br /> LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES FOR LEGISLATION MODERNIZING <br /> HIGHWAY USER TAXES DURING THE 1963 REGULAR SESSION OF THE <br /> CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, special purpose taxes which are paid by the users of <br /> the facility acquired and constructed by such taxes are in a dif- <br /> ferent class than most of our general taxes in that only the user <br /> of the facility is taxed and then the tax is in proportion to the <br /> extent of the use; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles <br /> in the State of California has created an ever increasing demand <br /> for streets and highways within the State. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA: That the League of California Cities is requested to <br />support legislation during the 1963 general session of the Califor- <br />nia Legislature to modernize the highway user taxes so that a great- <br />er portion of said taxes will be distributed to the cities for their <br />use in providing, improving and maintaining city streets and traffic <br />signals and that said funds be provided directly to the city from <br />the State of Californial <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 16th ~y of July, 1962. <br />ATTEST: ~ <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br /> I, MARION SUTTNER, do hereby certify that I am the Clerk of the <br />Council of the City of Santa Ana; that the foregoing Resolution was <br />regularly introduced to said Council at its regular meeting held on <br />the 16th day of July, 1962, and was at said meeting regularly passed <br />and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: <br /> <br />AYES, <br /> <br />COUNCILMEN: Henry H.
