<br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REGULATING
<br /> THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, ALTER-
<br /> TION, REPAIR, MOVING, REMOVAL, DEMOLITION, CON-
<br /> VERSION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA
<br /> AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL BUILDING AND/OR STRUCTURES
<br /> IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUm
<br /> ANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR:
<br /> PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF;
<br /> DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES; AND REPEAL-
<br /> ING ORDINANCE NO. ll~8 OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA.

<br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That portion of a certain document, three (3) copies
<br />
<br /> of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa
<br /> Aha, being marked and designated as "Uniform Building Code, 1948 Edition,
<br /> published January l, 1948, by Pacific Coast Duilding Officials Conference",
<br /> be and the same is hereby adopted as the building code of the City of Santa
<br /> Aha for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration,
<br /> repair, moving, removel, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use,
<br /> height, area, and maintenance of all buildings and/or structures in the City
<br /> of Santa Aha; providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees there-
<br /> for; providing penalties for violation of such code; declaring and establish-
<br /> ing fire zones; a~d each and all portions of the regulations, provisions,
<br /> penalties, condition,,and terms of such "Uniform Building Code, 1948 Edition,
<br /> puDllshed January l, 1948, by the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference",
<br /> on file i~ the office of the City Clerk and hereby referred to, are hereby
<br /> adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this Ordinance.
<br />
<br /> Section Z. That the entire incorporated area of the City of Santa
<br /> Aha is hereby declared to be and is hereby established as a Fire District and
<br /> said fire district shall be known and designated as Fire Zones l, Z, and
<br /> and each such zone shall include such territory or portions of said city as
<br /> illustrated, outlined and designated on a certain map on file in the'office
<br /> of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha being marked and designated as
<br /> "Fire Zones of the City of Santa Aha#, which ia hereby adopted as the fire
<br /> zoning map of the City of Santa Aha for the application of the regulations
<br /> included in the Uniform Building Code, 1948 Edition% published JanuaFy l,
<br /> 1948, by Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference.
<br />
<br /> Section ~. That the portions of said Uniform B~ildlng Code so
<br /> adopted are as follows:
<br />
<br /> Section lO1 to Section 6004, both sections inclusive, being
<br /> Chapter i to 60, Doth inclusive, of said Code; and also that section of
<br /> the Code marked "Appendix" being Section ?02 (c) to Section §llS, both
<br /> sections inclusive; Table B~-A, Minimum Foundation Requirements for Type
<br /> V Buildings; Section B301, Weights of Building ~aterials; Section
<br />
<br /> Table No. ~3-A, Horizontal Force Factors; Section ~5~5, Termite Provisions;
<br /> Section ~418, Masonry of Unburned Clay Units, provided, however, that Sub-
<br /> section (m) (Limitations) shall be amended so as to read as follows:
<br /> "Masonry of unburned clay units shall not be used in any building more than
<br /> one story in height. No bearing wall of unbumaed clay units shall have a
<br /> height of more than l0 times the thickness of such walls, and the t~ickness
<br /> shall in no case be less than sizteen inches (lB"). Provided, however, when
<br /> it can be shown by test that the unOurned Clay unit will exceed the require-
<br /> ment of Table No. ~4-1, the height may De increased and the thickness may be
<br />
