ORDINANCE NO. 1271 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING METER~FREE PARKING <br /> FOR CERTAIN A~PUTEES AND PARAPLEGIC '~mTERANS <br /> <br /> THE ~OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA f~NA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION l: That a physically incapacitated war veteran <br />who has lost one or both legs or the use thereof while on ac- <br />tive duty with the armed forces of the United States, shall <br />be entitled to park and remove any automobile operated by such <br />war veteran or have the same done for him while he is a passen- <br />ger in such vehicle, free of charge and free from any overtime <br />penalty, in any parking space on any public street or in any <br />off-street parking area operated by said City during all the <br />hours when it is otherwise lawful to park in the said space, <br />excepting only that the privilege of parking overtime without <br />penalty shall not apply to any loading zone, or limited park- <br />ing zone where the maximum lawful time for parking is less than <br />one hour. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: The provisions of Section i shall only apply <br />to a veteran who has presented to the CHIEF OF POLICE of the <br />City of Santa Ana, evidence that the applicant satisfies the <br />requirements of said Section 1. The CHIEF OF POLICE shall is- <br />sue to veterans satisfying the requirements hereof, an identi- <br />fication card and a small but inconspicuous sticker to identify <br />the vehicle. The automobile shall bear said sticker at all times <br />on the lower right-hand corner of the windshield and the veteran <br />shall at all times carry the identification card and present same <br />whenever requested by any Police Officer. <br /> <br /> SECTION ~: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage <br /> <br />of this Ordinance and shell ~ause the same to be published in three <br />consecutive issues of the Santa Aha Independent, a newspaper <br /> <br /> <br />
