RESOLUTION NO. 63-8 PROTESTING RELINQUISHMENT <br />OF TUSTIN AVENUE IN SANTA ANA AS PROPOSED BY THE <br />STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under date of December 11, 1962, the City Council <br /> <br />received notice from the Department of Public Works of the State of <br /> <br />California that the City of Santa Aha was officially notified of <br /> <br />the Department's intention to request the California Highway <br /> <br />Commission to relinquish the portions of superceded State Highway, <br /> <br />VII-ORA-43-SA, described as: <br /> <br />PARCEL 1: That portion of Tustin Avenue (87 feet wide) <br />beginning at the City of Santa Aha-County of Orange Boundary <br />Line at Fourth Street and extending northerly along said <br />Tustin Avenue to the City-County Boundary Line at Seventeenth <br />Street. <br /> <br />PARCEL 2: That portion of Tustin Avenue (124 and 80 feet <br />wide) extending northerly from the City of Santa Ana-Orange <br />County Boundary located approximately 650 feet Northerly <br />of Seventeenth Street to the City of Santa Aha-County of <br />Orange Boundary Line located approximately 650~ feet South <br />of santa Clara Avenue; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHF~REAS, said portion of Tustin Avenue as it now exists at <br /> <br />its intersection with Fourth Street is not in a safe condition and <br /> <br />is a continuing hazard to traffic on said two streets. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />city of Santa Aha that said Council hereby protests to the California <br />Highway Commission against the relinquishment proposed by the State <br />Highway Engineer for the reason said Highway is not in a good and <br />safe condition as it presently exists; that there now exists at the <br />intersection of Fourth Street and Tustin Avenue a traffic flow <br />warranting the installation of traffic signals for the safety of the <br />traveling public; that said traffic control signals should be <br />installed by the application of the standard formula for sharing of <br />expense, or that a satisfactory agreement for the installation of <br />such signals provident hat the Division of Highways would pay not less <br />than 5~ of the installation cost of said signals, representing its <br />two legs or highways entering said intersection, prior to the <br />relinquishment of said portionsof State Highway. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
