Section 701. OFFICERS APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL. In addition to <br />the City Manager, the City Council shall appoint the City Attorney who <br />shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed by <br />motion of the City Council adopted by the affirmative votes of at least <br />two-thirds of the members of the Council. Subject to the Civil Service <br />provisions of this Charter, the City Council shall appoint the Clerk <br />of the Council who shall serve at its pleasure. <br /> <br />Section 800. BOARD OF EDUCATION: NUMBER, SELECTION, AND TERM OF <br />MEMBERS. The Board of Education serving as the governing boards of <br />the Santa Ana Unified and Junior College District shall consist of <br />five members elected at large by electors qualified to vote in such <br />District's elections, as provided by law, at the times and in the <br />manner provided in this Charter for a term of four years. The term <br />of each member shall begin the first Tuesday following such election <br />and each shall serve, except as otherwise provided for in this Charter, <br />until his successor is elected and qualified. <br /> <br />Section 900. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: IN GENERAL. The <br />following enumerated appointive boards and commissions are here <br />established and shall have the powers and duties contained in this <br />Article: <br /> <br />(a) Board of Recreation and Parks <br />(b) Planning Commission <br />(c) Personnel Board <br />The City Council may create by ordinance such other appointive boards <br />or commissions as in its judgment are required and may grant to them <br />powers and duties as are consistent with the provisions of this <br />Charter. The City Council, by motion adopted by the affirmative votes <br />of at least a majority of its members, or the City Manager, may appoint <br />from time to time temporary cc~mittees as deemed advisable to render <br />counsel and advice to the appointing authorities on any designated <br />matters or subjects within the jurisdiction of such authorities. <br /> <br />-12- <br /> <br /> <br />
