RESOLUTION NO. 63-66 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING OPPOSITION <br />TO A STATE WITHHOLDING TAX <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the State of California <br />adopt legislation for withholding from income to cover State income <br />tax, and this City Council firmly believes that such withholding <br />provisions would be against the public interest and would tend to <br />make a majority of the citizenry unaware of the tax payment even <br />though the citizen did have to make and sign a return; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council believes that the nation is best <br />served if the citizens are aware of the financial support they render <br />to the national, state and local government. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of <br />the City of Santa Ana opposes any State Withholding tax as unnecessary <br />and an undue additional burden upon employers, and an undue lull of a <br />majority of our citizens to the detriment of our entire nation. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of May, 1963. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, DORIS M.
