RESOLUTION 63-109 AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE <br />BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY REQUESTING <br />THAT PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, <br />BE EXCEPTED FROM THE LEVY OF ANY ORANGE COUNTY TAX <br />TO PROVIDE STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION AND MAKING <br />FINDINGS OF FACT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is a municipal corporation <br />now existing as such by virtue of a charter granted under the laws <br />of the State of California, and said City lies in the County of <br />Orange in the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said City of Santa Ana does now provide adequate <br />structural fire protection to all property within the corporate <br />limits of said City by maintaining an organized Fire Department of <br />acknowledged excellence in operation and existence, modernly <br />equipped and staffed with competent well-trained personnel under <br />outstanding leadership and which said Department has available to <br />it a water system with adequate reserves maintained at very high <br />pressure circulated through large trunk mains all in excellent <br />condition, which has resulted in a lower fire insurance rate than <br />any other area in said County enjoys and one of the lowest fire <br />insurance rates in the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Fire Department is now providing adequate <br />structural fire protection to all property within the incorporated <br />limits of Santa Aha and no additional benefit in fire protection is <br />received or required by such property from structural fire protection <br />given by the County of Orange. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha hereby authorizes and directs that a petition be <br />presented to the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Orange County, <br />California, supported by a certified copy of this Resolution as <br />provided for in Government Code Section 25643, petitioning said <br />Board to exclude all property within the City of Santa Ana and to <br />except the same from the levy of any tax for the purpose of <br />structural fire protection which may be levied for the fiscal year <br />of 1963-1964, and Carl J. Thornton, City Manager, is hereby <br />authorized and directed, for andon behalf of said City of Santa Aha, <br />to sign the petition, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, <br />which said petition is hereby authorized and approved, and to <br />present the original executed copy of said petition, together with a <br />certified copy of this Resolution, to the Board of Supervisors of <br />Orange County, California, before July 1, 1963. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said City Council hereby finds <br />and declares that the statements made in said petition and in this <br />Resolution are true and correct. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 17~% day pf Jum/e., ~9~3. <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) SS <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> I, DORIS M.
