<br /> Communication was read from Secretary, Santa Ana City Schools stating
<br /> that an easement for a sewer line exists along the extension of
<br /> Woodland Avenue across the Washington Elementary School grounds and
<br /> the use of this sewer line has been abandoned by the City. On motion
<br /> of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the matter was
<br />
<br /> referred to the City Attorney to prepare necessary proceedings.

<br /> Communication was read from the City Engineer, together with letter
<br /> from Emmet C. Rogers protesting payment, in t~he sum of $600.00, for
<br /> sewer main on Bristol Street which lies on the west side of proposed
<br /> Tract No. 1572. On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and
<br /> carried, the communications were received and filed.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br /> request of Ernest J. Elias, on behalf of the "Taunters Club", for
<br /> permission to conduct a public dance at the American Legion Hall on
<br /> July 25th, 1952, was granted.
<br />
<br /> Communication was read from T.L.Moreland requesting that the Council
<br /> urge the State Highway Division to provide a pedestrian crossing under
<br /> the Freeway overpass on Grand Avenue, and on motion of Trustee Hunter,
<br /> seconded by McBride and carried, the matter was referred to the City
<br /> Engineer for action.

<br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br />request of Charles E. Rees, 701 W. 1st Street for a limited parking
<br />zone, was referred to the Administrator, City Engineer and Chief of
<br />Police.
<br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the
<br />
<br /> notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage
<br /> applications made by Harvey E. Davis, 1025 W. bth St., and. Esther O.
<br /> Winters, 800 E. Washington Avenue, were received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br /> applications of William M. Thomson to drive busses and Mamgaret A.
<br /> Lopez to d=ive taxicabs, were received, filed and permits g~ante~e
<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, proper
<br /> officials were authorized to execute agreement dated July 21st, 1952,
<br /> between the City and James L. Carney covering the construction of an
<br /> electric sign at 602 South Main Street, which sign will extend over
<br />
<br /> and upon the five-foot set-back line.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, proper
<br /> official was authorized to sign escrow instructions from Fred and Ida
<br /> Vollmer, for the widening of South Main Street.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the
<br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance
<br /> granted to the Santa Aha Building and Loan Association to permit a
<br /> parking lot at l$17 North Sycamore Street, subject to certain
<br /> conditions.
