Ortiz etux <br />fl(Orange Ave.) <br /> <br /> placing sidewalks across the Freeway on Grand Avenue, were received, <br /> filed and City Engineer instructed to follow th-rough. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Planning Commission in regard to heigh~i <br /> of fences sound Junk yards, wrecking yards and other Similar yards <br /> 9n motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, action <br /> was deferred until Resolution of approval is submitted by the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Santa Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce pro- <br /> testing increase in rates for classified advertising in the Orange <br /> <br /> .County Telephone Directory and on motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by! <br /> Dahl and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to file a complaint <br /> immediately with the Public Utilities Comauission based on the reasons <br /> as set forth in the Sr. and Jr. Chamber of Commerce communications. <br /> Communication was read from the First National Bank requesting removal <br /> of parking meters in the first, second and third ten-minute parking <br /> stalls on the west side of Main Street immediately south of the south- <br /> west corner of Fourth and Main Streets, and that loading zones be <br /> established in the parking spaces. On motion of Trustee Hunter, <br /> seconded by Dahl and carried, the Administrator and Attorney were <br /> instructed to investigate the possibility of applying the curb usage <br /> <br /> policy and present necessary proceeding at the September 2nd meeting. <br /> <br />Communications were read from the City of Arcadia requesting that Santa <br /> Aha file its protest witb the Public Utilities Commission reference <br /> application of the Southern Counties Gas Company for an increase in <br /> gas rates and on motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and <br /> <br /> carried, the communications were received and filed. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome,.seoonded by McBride and carried, the <br /> notification of the State ~ard of Equalization of alcoholic beverage <br /> application made by Nacianceno S. Frietze, 2026 W. 5th St., was <br /> <br /> received and filed. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> applications of Carlin F. Brotherton and Lanny R. Armstrong to drive <br /> <br /> taxicabs, were received, filed and permits granted. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On recommendation of the Chief of Police and on motion of Trustee <br /> <br /> Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the request of D.J.Wallace and! <br /> Tom Bell to conduct a pool hall at 805 East Fourth Street, was granted. <br /> <br /> A petition was read signed by eight residents and property owners in <br /> the 300 block Berkeley Street requesting that a street light be ins'tailed <br /> at the corner of Berkeley and Maple Streets. On motion of Trustee <br /> Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was referred to the <br /> <br /> Administrator and Engineer with power to act. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Hun~er, seconded by Jerome and carried, proper <br /> official was authorized to sign escrow instructions from David F. and <br /> Mary H.
