RESOLUTION NO. 63-221 REQUESTING THE COUNTY <br />OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY <br />FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF EIGHTH STREET <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the City of Santa Ana desires to improve Eighth Street from <br /> <br />480 feet west of Bristol Street to Shelton Street, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ Eighth Street is an important artery in the County of Orange <br />and of general County interest, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9~ Division 2 of the Streets <br />and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds ap- <br />portioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any <br />City in the improYement~ construction or repair of a street within a City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, <br />provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal <br />Year 1964-65 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated <br />cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway <br />Financing Program. <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa <br /> <br />Aha hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate <br />to said City from County Funds the amount of $138,500.00, said amount to be <br />matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement <br />of Eighth Street from 480 feet west of Bristol Street to Shelton Street and for <br />the acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisition <br />of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of <br />Orange is hereby requested to find that said work on Eighth Street, in the <br />manner provided, is in the general County interest. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that~ by this Resolution~ the City of Santa Ana <br />agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and <br />further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way <br />will be available for the Fiscal Year 1964-65. <br /> <br /> <br />
