<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, Article X,
<br />Section 1010, be amended as follows:
<br />
<br /> "In second paragraph, end of third line" ..... in behalf
<br />
<br />of any candidate, or contribute thereto, nor shall such
<br />person seek, etc."
<br />It was moved by Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, that in
<br />Article X, Section 1010, third paragraph third line, the words "purpose
<br />whatever" be deleted and word "candidate" be inserted in lieu thereof.~
<br />Messrs. Randolph Cart of the Southern Pacific Company and Robert Curtis
<br />of the Santa Fe Railway Compan~ spoke at length in protest of several
<br />items covered in Article XIII, resulting in the following action:
<br />
<br />It was moved by Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and Carried, that in i
<br />Article XIII, Section 1300, fifth paragraph, the following be insertedl
<br />at end of first line: :
<br />
<br /> "in and over streets of the City".
<br />
<br />It was moved by Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, that the
<br />second paragraph in Article XIII, Section 1301 be amended as follows:
<br />
<br /> "At end of third llne insert "or the Interstate Commerce
<br />
<br /> Commission, as the case may be".
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, that in
<br />Article XIII, Section 1302, second paragraph, line three be changed toll
<br />delete words "ten days" and substitute "thirty days".
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br />following Resolution entStled:
<br />
<br /> "A Resolution of the Council of the City of
<br /> Santa Ana calling a special election to
<br /> submit to a vote of the electors of said City,
<br /> the question of the adoption of a City Charter
<br /> for the government of the City of Santa Ana
<br /> pursuant to Article XI, Section 8 of the
<br /> Constitution of the State of California and
<br /> amendments thereto, and authorizing consolidation
<br /> of said election with the General Elections of
<br /> November $, 1952"
<br />
<br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 52-75 and passed by
<br />
<br />following vote:
<br />

<br />
<br /> Noes, Trustees
<br /> Absent, Trustees
<br />

<br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler.

<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and unanimously carried,
<br />that the City Council extend an extreme vote of appreciation and thanks
<br />to the Charter Committee and to Griffenhagen and Associates for the
<br />
<br />excellent charter proposed for the City of Santa Ana.
<br />.
<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, that a
<br />letter of appreciation be sent to each member of the Charter Committee.
<br />The. Mayor requested the Clerk to mail a copy of the Minutes of this
<br />meeting to each member of the Charter Committee.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and Carried, permission.
<br />was granted John E. colwell, City Attorney to leave the State from
<br />August 25th to September 3rd, 1952 inclusive.
