FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION NO. <br />2024-02 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 516 <br />WEST 19T" STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE HISTORICAL <br />REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC REGISTER <br />CATEGORIZATION NO. 2024-02 PLACING SAID <br />PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />finds, determines, and declares as follows: <br />A. On May 8, 2024, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2024-02) and <br />categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2024- <br />02) of the Dixon-Heemstra House located at 516 West 19t" Street, Santa <br />Ana. <br />B. The Dixon-Heemstra House has distinctive architectural features of the <br />Craftsman style and was built in 1923. <br />C. The Dixon-Heemstra House qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register <br />of Historical Properties under Criterion 1 as an intact example of a <br />Craftsman style home in Santa Ana. The house displays characteristics of <br />the Craftsman style through its use of low -pitch gabled roof, exposed rafter <br />tails, and front porch; among other original features. The recommended <br />categorization is "Key" because it has a distinctive architectural style and <br />quality reflective of the Craftsman style (Santa Ana Municipal Code, Section <br />30-2.2). Character -defining features of the Dixon-Heemstra House include, <br />but may not be limited to: L-shaped plan; asymmetrical primary fagade; <br />low -pitch roof with overhanging eaves and exposed rafter tails; long side - <br />gabled porch roof that intersects two front gables at the primary fagade; <br />narrow horizontal wood panel siding; the porch's exposed beams at the <br />gable's end and three porch support columns; primary entrance composed <br />of a single glazed door with divided lights; two large tripartite wood -frame <br />windows, comprised of a central fixed window between two narrow double - <br />hung windows with divided lights, which flank the main entrance; original <br />windows and doors and window/door framing throughout; detached garage; <br />front yard lawn with landscaping including mature trees and shrubs; and the <br />Hollywood driveway (if restored from gravel to grass in center). <br />Historic Resources Commission 1-6 5/8/2024 <br />Resolution No. 2024-XX <br />Page 1 of 6 <br />
