<br />into an innovative educational and recreational space with various new amenities
<br />catered to serve the surrounding community. This project features a Santa Ana-themed
<br />"satellite library" book kiosk and custom lockable shelter, a children's trike play track to
<br />encourage awareness of street and traffic safety, new pedestrian concrete pathways, a
<br />"story walk" with library themed signage to help residents learn about water
<br />conservation, and new multigenerational playground equipment. The scope of work
<br />includes excavation, grading, installation of the library kiosk, playground equipment,
<br />concrete sidewalks, concrete accessible curb ramps, resurfacing an existing parking lot,
<br />drought -tolerant landscaping, irrigation, overall site lighting, security camera, and
<br />signing and striping. These improvements will enhance the health and wellness of the
<br />surrounding community by providing new and upgraded educational and recreational
<br />activities that will advance safety, equity, access, and support for Santa Ana's
<br />disproportionately impacted children and families.
<br />Public Outreach and Contractor Participation
<br />To provide an opportunity for local vendors to submit bids, the City notified a total of 60
<br />regional vendors via PlanetBids, many of which are Santa Ana based. A total of five
<br />bids were received. No bids were received from a Santa Ana contractor.
<br />As legally required, a Notice Inviting Bids was advertised in the Orange County Register
<br />newspaper on June 5 and June 12, 2024. The project was also advertised in PlanetBids
<br />from June 5 through June 26, 2024. Bids were received electronically via PlanetBids on
<br />June 26, 2024. No bid protest was submitted by any of the bidders during the bid
<br />protest period.
