NOVEMBER 20, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AMEND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES <br />AGREEMENT WITH HYGIENE TECHNOLOGIES <br />INTERNATIONAL,INCORPORATED <br />CITY MANAGER <br />ma"j-01will <br />El As Recommended <br />El As Amended <br />F-1 Ordinance on ls' Reading <br />El Ordinance on 2 nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />FILE NUMBER A-?006-309 <br />4V J <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amended agreement with Hygiene <br />Technologies International, Incorporated to conduct industrial hygiene <br />studies for an additional $100,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City utilizes Hygiene Technologies International, Incorporated <br />(HygieneTech) to provide comprehensive occupational health and safety <br />services. HygieneTech conducts periodic industrial safety engineering, <br />indoor air quality, noise assessment and control., industrial ventilation, <br />asbestos and lead identification, health and safety training, <br />environmental air monitoring, and regulatory compliance. The City I s <br />current agreement with HygieneTech expires on June 30, 2007. <br />CalOSHA requires the City to conduct air quality surveys in City <br />facilities when environmental conditions warrant. The City has <br />successfully contracted with HygieneTech on various occasions to conduct <br />air quality surveys in the City's Main Library, Animal Care Shelter, and <br />the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Administration building. They <br />have also provided technical. information relating to lead testing at the <br />Police Department's firing range. <br />The current assessments include indoor air quality improvements, <br />clearance surveys and mold remediation for eight fire stations, noise <br />assessment surveys for three departments and a (general indoor air quality <br />survey in City Hall. Additional money is needed to conclude these <br />projects. <br />
