(9) <br />1.2.5 REPLANTING <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete removal and replacement of ground cover <br />lost due to normal attrition or to Contractor's faulty maintenance or negligence, as determined <br />by the City of Santa Ana, at no additional cost to the City. Contractor shall control weeds by <br />keeping all planters, shrubs and ground cover areas free of visible weeds at all times. <br />Where ground cover grows under pine trees, the Contractor shall use a combination of <br />techniques (raking and blowing) to prevent the build-up of needles from forming on the ground <br />cover. Ground cover plants shall be added, as needed, to ensure a solid mass planting in <br />conformance with the original intent at no cost to the City. <br />1.3. TREE CARE <br />1.3.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />The Contractor shall bring to the attention of the City of Santa Ana within twenty-four (24) hours <br />any tree -displaying root heaving or girdling (either by roots or a foreign material, leaning, broken <br />or hanging limbs, or any other reason posing a potential safety hazard.) Any safety hazard <br />present now shall be reported immediately. <br />Note: All trees up to 9 inch DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) are included in routine <br />maintenance. <br />1.3.2 REPORTING <br />An annual report shall be provided by an ISA Certified Arborist, by January 30th of each year, <br />on the overall condition and health of all trees under the scope of this contract. Specific trees in <br />need of additional care or removal shall be identified by species and/or address. <br />The Contractor shall provide an annual report identifying the location, address and species of <br />tree vacancies. <br />1.3.3 PRUNING <br />All trees within the scope of work shall be maintained to keep the natural integrity and shape of <br />the trees. This work shall be accomplished in a manner, which will ensure that each individual <br />tree is pruned per American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards, per ANSI A300 Part <br />1, 2008 pruning standard and the ASNI Z133.1 as outlined in the City of Santa Ana Tree Pruning <br />and Stump Removal Specifications are to be followed. All work shall be of the highest quality as <br />outlined under the City of Santa Ana Tree Pruning and Stump Removal Specifications.
