Chandler. <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />lng vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees: <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees <br /> Absent, Trustees <br /># <br /> <br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee <br /> <br />Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the Clerk was authorized to <br />advertise for the furnishing of 5000 feet 12 inch, 10,000 feet 6 inch,ii <br /> <br />500 feet 14 inch and 500 feet 16 inch east iron pipe, to be Bell and <br />sPigot, Class 150, cement lined, manufactured in accordance with <br />Federal Specifications WW-P-421, Type I or Type II; bids to be opened <br />~pril 6, 1953. <br />On recommendation of the Auditor and Purchasing Agent and on motion of <br />Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the Clerk was authorized <br />to advertise for the furnishing cf 30,000 gallons, more or less, 80 <br />Octane plus first structure gasoline (Ethyl), and lO0,000 gallons, <br />more or less, 76 Octane plus second structure gasoline (regular); <br /> <br />bids to be opened April 6, 1953. <br />, <br />A petition was read signed by forty-seven persons requesting that <br />consideration be given to re-routing or a change of schedule of the <br />City bus service so that the same will not allow the arrival of a bus <br />in the vicinity of the Wilson School, 1317 North Baker Street during <br />class dismissal time, and that bus speeds be reduced in the vicinity <br />of the school at any time when the children are entering or leaving <br />the school property. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride .. <br />and carried, the petition was received, filed and the Clerk InStructe~i <br />to address a communication to the Bus Company, by registered mail, <br />requesting the presence of a representative of the Bus Company at the <br />Council meeting to be held March 16th, 1953, to show cause why the <br /> <br />Bus Company should not change the route or to conform to the speed <br /> <br />limits as established by the City. <br />. <br />The Clerk read communication from California Freedom of Choice <br />Committee stating that upon advice of Attorney Jack J. Rimel, a <br />mandamus action to compel the Council to place the so-called Freedom <br />of Choice Ordinance on the April ?th ballot would not succeed because <br />of the failure of the petitioner to file the affidavit of publication <br />within the ten day period required by law. The Clerk also read <br />communications from Lester Van Tatenhove and Raymond Heiligman, M.D. <br />opposing the Freedom of Choice initiative being placed on the ballot. <br />Mrs. Patric!a Herzog appeared before the Council and read letters <br />from Nme. Vivian A. Knudtson, 214 East Santa Clara Avenue, Mrs. Lianns <br />Lament, 210 East Santa Clara and N~s. George Sinsel protesting the <br />manner in which they were approached by the circulators to sign. the <br />Freedom of Choice petitions. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded <br />by Jerome and carried, the communications were received and filed. <br /> <br /> <br />
