No. 53-26 <br />Adv. for bids <br />Extension of <br />Grand Ave. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Instructions to <br />City Clerk <br />(Grand Ave. extension) <br /> <br />Communication was read from League of California Cities advising that <br />on March 12, 1953, at the Hotel Senator, Sacramento, a state-wide <br /> <br />meeting will be held to consider legislation int~'odueed relating to <br /> <br />County and City Sales Taxes, and on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded <br /> <br />by,creme and carried, the communication was received and filed. <br />, Trustee McBride was excused from the meeting at 9:30 P.M. <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the plan~i <br /> <br />and specifications for the extension of Grand Avenue from East First , <br />Street to a connection with McClay and Chestnut Avenue, were approved <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br />following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution authorizing and directing the <br />City Clerk to advertise for bids for the <br />extension of Grand Avenue from East First <br />Street to a connection with McClay Street <br />and Chestnut Avenue" <br /> <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 53-26 and passed by <br />~he following vote: <br /> <br />that <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees William Jerome, Orson H. Hunter, <br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. <br /> Noes, Trustees None <br /> Absent, Trustees J.L.McBrlde <br /> <br />It was moved by Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, <br /> <br />the City Clerk be authorized and directed to deposit with the County <br />Clerk of Orange County to guarantee payment for property taken and <br />severance damage for the following people: Charles Bennett, $9,000.00~ <br />Harvey Bennett, $6,000.00, to allow the City to take immediate <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Attorney R.M.Orookshank <br /> (City of Santa Ana vs <br />H#edwohl et al; Henry <br />T. Foust property) <br /> <br />possession to continue the work on the Grand Avenue extension. <br />Communication was read from Attorney R.M.Crookshank in Case No. 59759 <br />City of Santa Ana versus Heedwohl etal for possession of the Henry T. <br />Foust property on South Main Street, and on motion of Trustee Hunter~ <br />seconded by Dahl and carried, the communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />It was moved by Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, that <br /> <br />R.M.Orookshank be notified that the City approves his offer and <br /> <br />requests him to immediately proceed to obtain court approval for an <br /> <br />In Re <br />~ancel <br />Resol; No. 53-21 <br />Adv. for bids <br />Remove front of <br />building NE corner <br />Anahurst & Main Sts. <br /> <br />easement deed to the City and to Compromise all claims against the : <br />City by reason of the Foust estate being required to cut the front <br />off their building and replacing the same back of the seven feet <br />deeded to the City; the total price for the land and the damage to' <br />the building, the repair of the same, all severance damage and all <br />charges of every kind to be $7630.00. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Administrator and on motion of Trustee Dahl, <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, Resolution No. 53-21 authorizing and <br />directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the removal of the <br />front of the building located at the northeast corner of Anahurst andl <br />Main Streets; Cutting'off the sidewalls seven (7) feet to the new <br /> <br />In Re <br />Request <br />Robert D. Hutton <br /> <br />proposed proper~y line of Main Street and restoring front of said <br /> <br />building, as previously authorized was cancelled. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />request of Robert D.
