May 19, 2023
Kevin Ting
Local Resident and Business Owner
Planning Commissioners,.
I am writing to express my strong support for the Related Bristol Development and to encourage you to
vote in favor of this transformatioe project during the upcoming decision -making process. As a resident
and small business owner in our city, I firmly believe that the Related Bristol Development will bring
immense benefits and contribute to the continued growth, vibrancy, and livability of Santa Ana.
I met with Steve Oh of the Related team and had the opportunity to review the architecture, and
amenities and learn of the merits of the proposed project, One of the key reasons I support this project
is its potential to revitalize a tired section of Bristol Street through the addition of high -quality housing
that is allowed within the current General plan and fitting for mixed -use zoning. This infusion of new
energy and vibrancy will significantly contribute to the overall neighborhood and create an environment
that is attractive to residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Moreover, the project aligns with the City's
housing goals and will attract a strong demographic that can revitalize the retail trade area and positively
contribute to the community's well-being.
I particularly appreciate the Related Bristol Development's commitment to providing much -needed
attainable housing. Having joined the Chamber of Commerce and spoken with the Economic
Development department, I am aware of the post-COVID struggles of businesses and the labor shortage.
Many local employees of businesses in Santa Ana are currently facing challenges in finding suitable
accommodation within the city. By offering a range of housing options, this project will not only address
the needs of these individuals but also foster a more inclusive and diverse community.
In addition to the benefits it brings to the housing market, the Related Bristol Development stands out
with its attractive architecture and the introduction of new retail and dining options for residents and
neighbors. The mixed -use nature of the development, with its compatible land uses, promotes
pedestrian use and safety by encouraging active street life and creating eyes on the street. This, in turn,
has a positive impact on community security and helps diminish crime rates. Furthermore, the inclusion
of a local police substation within the project enhances safety measures and provides reassurance to
both residents and business owners.
By redeveloping the existing retail space and the implementation of the 15-minute City concepts with a
compact mix of compatible land uses, the Related Bristol Development will shift the focus from car -
oriented "stroads" to pedestrian -friendly streetscapes, upgrading our mobility infrastructure and helping
our transportation network. This transformation will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area
but also promote a more sustainable and livable environment. The impact fees and tax generated from
this project will help local schools and fund community services. Related Bristol aligns with the vision of
Santa Ana as a city that prioritizes the well-being and convenience of its residents.
