VI. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES/ <br />METHO OL GY IN CARRYING THEM OUT <br />Goals and. Objectives <br />The primary goal of the Caring Neighbors Shared Housing Program is help single parents, seniors, frail elderly, <br />the disabled and other disadvantaged individuals with limited incomes to secure safe, decent and affordable <br />housing and maintain their independence by living with others interdependently. The program is ideal for those <br />in need of security, help with finances and companionship. It is a way of dealing with the critical shortage of low <br />cost housing in Orange County and fighting the high cost of living for those with low incomes. Specifically, this <br />program provides housing referrals, resources and support to single -parent families, seniors, frail elderly, this <br />disabled and singles. These targeted populations are severely at -risk of being homeless or institutionalization due <br />to precarious financially circumstances and problems that make living alone difficult. Through this program, <br />mutual benefit will be realized by successfully matching those who need housing with those who have homes to <br />share. The Caring Neighbors Shared Housing Program is the only countywide program addressing the housing <br />needs of all these populations. <br />Methodology <br />Outreach to seniors and others with homes to share who desire companionship, require some assistance in daily <br />living and/or need to pool their resources with others to maintain their independent living situations is critical to <br />continued program success. Likewise, it is important to raise the awareness of Shared Housing opportunities to <br />those seeking homes. The program goal, objectives and methodology in carrying them out are as follows: <br />Goal: Reduce and Prevent Homelessness and Institutionalization Among Single -Parent Families, Seniors, <br />Frail Elderly, the Disabled and Disadvantaged Singles in Santa Ana. <br />Objective(s): <br />1. To facilitate Shared Housing intakes to 25 home seekers per quarter. <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) Make presentations to 2 Senior Centers per quarter <br />(B) Distribute flyers to shelters, churches, senior centers and domestic violence projects <br />2. Provide home sharers with 5 matches per quarter. <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) Make presentations to senior centers, mobile home parks, etc, <br />(B) Distribute flyers to senior centers, mobile home parks and senior apt complexes <br />3. Community marketing to senior centers, shelters and churches — 75 contacts per quarter. <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) Continue flyer distribution to senior centers, mobile home parks, shelters, <br />churches, domestic violence projects <br />(B) Send out letters to churches to set up 2 speaking engagements per quarter <br />4. .Target the Latino community with Spanish language brochures. <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) Translation of program brochure into Spanish language <br />(B) Print and distribute Spanish language brochure <br />5. Provide part-time bilingual Shared Housing services in Spanish <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) Advertise position through LSS/OC and Family Preservation Centers <br />(B) Provide 8 hours bilingual counseling service per week <br />(C) Interview home seekers and match with home sharers <br />Exhibit; A <br />
