Hall, Jennifer
From:Lopez, Jessie
Sent:Friday, September 27, 2024 5:09 PM
To:eComment
Subject:FW: Related Bristol

From: Katie Perez <
Sent: Friday, September 27, 2024 3:05 PM
To: Amezcua, Valerie <VAmezcua@santa-ana.org>; Bacerra, Phil <pbacerra@santa-ana.org>; Penaloza, David
<DPenaloza@santa-ana.org>; Lopez, Jessie <JessieLopez@santa-ana.org>; Vazquez, Benjamin <bvazquez@santa-
ana.org>; Hernandez, Johnathan <JRyanHernandez@santa-ana.org>; Bristol@related.com
Subject: Related Bristol

Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Esteemed City Council Members,

As a resident of the South Coast Metro neighborhood in Ward 4, I strongly oppose the proposed Related Bristol
development. Nobody in this neighborhood wants or needs increased traffic. Nobody is asking for luxury
apartments to be built where our community shopping center is. Very few people who already live in this area
will be able to afford the rent for luxury apartments, so you will be pushing working class people out of their
neighborhood and adding to the affordable housing crisis. I love Santa Ana and I love this neighborhood, please
stop trying to gentrify her.

We all agree that shopping center needs to be revitalized, but please do anything else with it other than building
ugly high-rise apartments that nobody asked for. Build hotels if you want to build them there, but the traffic in
this neighborhood can't support that many additional residents. If anyone actually believes that the people who
"live in those apartments will work where they live" needs to wake up and join us in real life because those
people will have jobs elsewhere and they will commute in their car to their jobs.

What will this development add to our community? What will it do to address the homeless problem our
neighborhood currently has? The homeless people who sleep on Bristol can't afford luxury apartment rent.
Don't say it will address the homeless problem because the "affordable" housing you are offering is for seniors
and it will do nothing to alleviate us on Bristol who have to deal with homeless people doing drugs in our parks
and in the neighborhoods that are already here.

Do something meaningful with the opportunity you have to redevelop this space. Build real affordable housing
for working families, build a homeless shelter or a drug rehab facility. Something that will actually be better for
our existing community instead of trying to replace us all with rich people.

Thank you,

Katie Perez
Bristol and Segerstom resident

1
