.RESOLUTION NO. 61-~27 CONCERNING COUNCIL INTENT <br /> ~ APPROPRIATE FISCAL YEAR 1962-63 FUNDS FOR FIRST <br /> STREET RAILROAD SEPARATION PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WItEREAS, this Comacil recognizes the importance of First Street <br />as a major east-west arterial route;and <br /> <br /> WHEEEAS, this Council recognizes the importance of insuring that <br />the iucreasingly heavvy traffic vol~nes on First Street are handled safely <br />and efficieutly;aud <br /> <br /> W~IEREAS, it is desirable to inform the California Public Utilities <br />Commission of the Council's interest in First Street in general and in <br />particular the Council's interest in providing a grade separation of <br />vehicular and railroad traffic at the crossing of First Street with the <br />Southern Pacific Railroad and Atchison~Topeka and Santa Fe Railway tracks <br />near Minnie Street in order that the Separation Project may be properly <br />considered for the 1962 Priority List~grade crossings most urgently in <br />need of separation;and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is centemplated that said separation project can be <br />financed from a combination City Gas' Tax Funds, State Highway Railroad <br />Separation Funds, Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program Funds, <br />Southern Pacific Railroad and &tchison~ Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Funds; <br />and <br /> <br />the total preliminary Project cost estin~te is approximately <br /> <br /> WHERF~S~ the total estimated City share will be approximately <br />$500,000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is possible for the Council to petition for Orange County <br />Arterial Highway Financing Frogram Funds in an amount of approximately <br />$250,000 for the Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, State Gas Tax Fuuds will be available for the Project; cud <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City <br /> <br />of Santa Ana does hereby declare its intent to appropriate the City's <br />share of the First Street Railroad Separation Project cost from Fiscal Year <br />1962~63 Gas Tax funds and from County Arterial Highway Finaucing Program <br />funds~ to be requested from the County~ in order that the Project ~ay be constructed <br />during the 196R-63 Fiscal Year. <br /> <br /> <br />
