ACCENT ON <br /> LANGUAGES <br /> Real-time Turnaround <br /> With over two decades of experience in providing interpretation and translation services, <br /> Accent has perfected efficient workflows to ensure real-time interpretations for calls and <br /> meetings. Our comprehensive Content Management Systems (CMS), Translation Management <br /> Systems (TMS), and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, coupled with experienced <br /> personnel, allows for streamlined rescheduling processes for translation and interpretation, <br /> enabling swift and accurate communication. Additionally, our project managers specialize in <br /> coordinating fast turnaround times for written materials, ensuring same-day confirmation for <br /> interpretation requests and next-day translation delivery without compromising quality. Accent <br /> will gladly accommodate any emergency requests and do our best to assist the City. <br /> Minimum requirements for linguists <br /> Interpreters must be able to accurately render oral communication involving two or more <br /> individuals. The interpreter must be able to accurately translate communication from all <br /> involved parties. In the event of meetings that are emotional in nature, interpreters are <br /> required to provide interpretation in difficult conditions and remain unbiased. The following is a <br /> quick summary of the interpretation skills and role of the interpreter: <br /> • Must be native in the target language. <br /> • Linguists' minimum requirements include favorable ILR-scale results (3+or higher) and, <br /> in addition to 3+years of experience. <br /> • Must be bi-cultural in addition to being bilingual. <br /> • Must be a cultural liaison between the client and the LEP. <br /> • Must have a good command of both languages. <br /> • Offer accurate and complete rendition. <br /> • Avoid interaction with the client without the government representative or social <br /> worker's permission. <br /> • Remain impartial and unbiased: The interpreter must not provide private opinions. <br /> • Use of the proper protocol: The interpreter must use the first person when interpreting <br /> and the third person when asking for clarification or repetition. <br /> • Notify Accent and the City immediately of any conflict of interest. <br /> Accent relies on standards based on accepted interpreting quality standards, code of ethics, and <br /> customer feedback. The following are the requirements to ensure that interpreters comply with <br /> industry standards (as per the American Society of Testing and Materials, ASTM): <br /> • Command of Foreign language <br /> • Attention skills <br /> • Analytical skills <br /> • Memory skills <br /> • Language transfer skills <br /> • Note-taking skills <br /> • Cultural Awareness <br /> • Clear and audible speech <br /> • Demeanor appropriate to setting <br /> Accent on Languages Response 24-022A 21 <br /> Volume I-SOQ <br />
