REGIONAL BOARDS/AGENCIES DESCRIPTIONS <br />METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (MWD) <br />The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a state -established cooperative <br />and regional wholesaler that delivers water to 26 member public agencies — 14 cities, <br />11 municipal water districts, one county water authority — which in turn provides water to <br />more than 19 million people in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San <br />Diego, and Ventura counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and <br />Northern California to supplement local supplies and helps its members develop <br />increased water conservation, recycling, storage, and other resource -management <br />programs. <br />Membership: Council Member or resident <br />Compensation: Reimbursement for mileage, conference registration, lodging <br />Term Limits: None <br />Meeting Location. Alameda Street, Los Angeles <br />Meeting Date/Time: Monthly, 2nd Tuesday of each month at 12:30 P.M., Committee <br />meetings on 2nd Monday and 2nd and 4t" Tuesday of each month <br />Alternate: None <br />NEWPORT BAY WATERSHED EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE <br />The Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee (Executive Committee) is the <br />successor to the Upper Newport Bay Sediment Control Executive Committee <br />established through a cooperative agreement in the early 1980s. The Executive <br />Committee was formed by amendment of the cooperative agreement in 1999, and now <br />includes in its interests the impairments of Newport Bay caused by nutrients, toxins, and <br />pathogens in addition to sediment, as well as related environmental enhancements. <br />Members of the Executive Committee are elected, appointed, or executive level <br />managers, with one member from each of the signatories to the agreement (The County <br />member, however, represents both the County and the Orange County Flood Control <br />District).
