REGIONAL BOARDS/AGENCIES DESCRIPTIONS <br />ORANGE COUNTY MOSQUITO AND VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT (OCMVCD) <br />The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control Board is an independent special <br />district dedicated to controlling rats, mosquitoes, and other disease carrying and public <br />health pests. Activities also include surveillance of vectors and vector -borne diseases, <br />public education services, identification of public health pests, and specific powers as <br />outlined in the California Health and Safety Code. Each Trustee is appointed by the city <br />they represent to serve a two or four-year term, and may only be removed for cause. <br />Membership. Council Member or resident <br />Compensation: $100/per meeting (in lieu of expenses) <br />Term Limits. None; member serves a two or four year term, at discretion of <br />Council <br />Meeting Location. Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District Headquarters, <br />13001 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92843 <br />Meeting Date/Time: 3rd Thursday of each month at 3.00 P.M. <br />Alternate: None <br />ORANGE COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT (OC San) <br />The Orange County Sanitation District is a wastewater treatment facility that serves <br />Orange County, California, consisting of two operating plants, referred to as Plant No. 1 <br />located in Fountain Valley and Plant No. 2 located in Huntington Beach. It is the third <br />largest wastewater treatment facility west of the Mississippi River. For over 50 years, <br />OC SAN has safely collected, treated, and disposed of and/or reclaimed the wastewater <br />generated by 2.5 million people living and working in central and northwestern Orange <br />County. OC San and the Orange County Water District were awarded the Stockholm <br />Industry Water Award in 2008 for pioneering work to develop with Trojan Technologies <br />the Groundwater Replenishment System, the world's largest water purification plant for <br />groundwater recharge. The mission of OC San is to protect public health and the <br />environment by providing effective wastewater collection, treatment, and recycling. <br />Membership. Council Member <br />Compensation: $315 per meeting, plus mileage; maximum of six (6) meetings <br />per month (increase to $315 effective January 1, 2025) <br />Term Limits: None <br />Meeting Location: OC San Administrative Office, <br />18480 Bandilier Cir, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 <br />Meeting Date/Time: Monthly, 4t" Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M.
