REGIONAL BOARDS/AGENCIES DESCRIPTIONS <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (SCAG), DISTRICT 16 <br />SCAG is an association representing six (6) counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, <br />Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura) that works to develop regional plans for <br />transportation, growth management, housing development, air quality, and other issues <br />of regional significance. SCAG's 86 Regional Council Members have the key <br />responsibility for representing the Southern California region on issues such as <br />transportation investments, growth strategies, and the allocation of future housing needs. <br />Regional Council Members have an important voice in short and long-term planning and <br />greater influence in legislation and access to the knowledge and insight provided on <br />ongoing activities affecting your constituency throughout the state. <br />Membership. Council Member <br />Compensation: $150 per diem stipend for attendance at SCAG-clerked meetings or <br />SCAG-sponsored events or other authorized SCAG business <br />activities; and maximum of six (6) per diem stipends per month for <br />SCAG-non-clerked meetings; mileage reimbursement or public <br />transit expenses <br />Term Limits. 2-year term, no maximum <br />Meeting Location: SCAG Main Office, 900 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1700, Los Angeles, <br />CA 90017 <br />Meeting Date/Time: Monthly, 1st Thursday of each month; 12:15 P.M. — 2:00 P.M. <br />Alternate. No <br />ORANGE COUNTY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (OCCOG) <br />OCCOG serves as a forum for the consideration, study, and recommendation to member <br />entities on a range of area -wide and regional issues including transportation, housing, <br />livable communities, exploring practical avenues for intergovernmental cooperation, and <br />coordination. OCCCOG is also responsible for adopting Orange County's demographic <br />projections for population, employment, and housing. OCCOG representatives also serve <br />on SCAG committees and Regional Council to make sure Orange County's voice is heard <br />when regional policy -making takes place. OCCOG is governed by an 18-member Board <br />of Directors. As the subregional planning agency for Orange County, OCCOG is also <br />responsible for conducting the elections for SCAG representatives for Orange County and <br />selects Orange County's 12 SCAG committee representatives. <br />Membership.
