<br />of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, check filed by Roy
<br />Greenleaf, Jr., in the sum cf $746.76, was ordered released.

<br />On request cf the Ptu-chasing Agent and on motion of Councilman Dahl,
<br />seconded by Lateen and carried, the Clerk was authorized to advertise
<br />
<br />for bids for one accounting machine; bids to be opened November 16,195~.

<br />On motion cf Councilman Dahl, seconded by La. sen and c~rried, the
<br />request of George R. Whitney dba Confidential Research Bureau for a
<br />permit to conduct a private patrol sez~rice was granted.

<br />Communication was read from Har~y E. Bergh, County Planning DirectOr,
<br />advising that due to prior work on hand it is not known when the
<br />Segerst~om-Croddy application for change of zone will be set for heaB-
<br />lng, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried,
<br />the Manager was requested to arrange for a mutual meeting date with the
<br />County Planning Commission.

<br />On recommendation cf the Assistant City Engineer and on motion of
<br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and earrled, the Clerk was author-
<br />ized to advertise for bids for the furnishing cf 20,000 feet 6 inch
<br />
<br />Cast Iron Pipe; bids to be opened November 16th, 1953.

<br />On motion cf Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />supplemental verified claim, in the amount cf $5~0.66, of the Pacific
<br />Telephone and Telegraph Company, for damage to their underground cable
<br />and tile duct, at the southwest corner cf First and Main Streets during
<br />the moving of a fire alar~n box, was referred to the Attorney and
<br />Insurance Carrier.

<br />A communication was read signed by Boyd Allen Hershey and James C.
<br />Monroe, Counsel, setting forth specific objections to and requesting
<br />the removal cf fou~ members cf the Personnel Board and that Boyd Allen
<br />Hershey be given a fair and impartial hearing before a fair and
<br />impartial Board. It was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen
<br />and c~led, that the Clerk be directed, on behalf of the Council, to
<br />add~ess a letter to Boyd Allen Hershey and James C. Monroe, Counsel,
<br />advising that in the Council's opinion the Personnel Board is a duly
<br />constituted, fair and impartial Board and fer this reason the request
<br />is denied; and, it is the Councills understanding that Phil M. Brown
<br />has voluntarily withdrawn f~cm the Personnel Board for the hearing.
<br />
<br />A petition was read signed by ten persons requesting that a ~afety
<br />patrolmen be placed on duty at the intersection cf Edinger and Towner
<br />Streets, near the Glenn Martin School. On recommendation of the~
<br />committee and on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and
<br />carried, the petition was received, f~led and a crossing guard ordered
<br />
<br />employed.
