RESOLUTION NO. 60-171 EXPRESSING APPRECIATION <br />TO PERSONS AND ORGANIZATIONS CONTRIBUTING TIME <br />AND ~.~%TERIAL USED TO REHABILITATE THE SANTA ANA <br />MLTNIC iPAL BOWL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the structural members of the bleachers in the <br />Santa Aha Municipal Bowl had, in some cases, been reported to be <br />unsafe, and an estimate for rehabilitation of the Bowl gave costs <br />varying from $30,000.00 to $59,000.00, which the City Council <br />determined should not be spent to repair the existing structure, <br />and after conferences with the School Board and study, the Council <br />was asked to keep the Bowl opened to the public for two more years; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ~. Floyd Weaver, the structural engineer hired by <br />the City, estimated that structural safety could be obtained for a <br />considerably lower figure in view of the offers of voluntary labor <br />and supervision made to the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City accepted these offers for voluntary labor <br />and supervision and entered into an agreement with the Gallegos <br />Construction Corporation for the necessary work, which has now been <br />completed at a total cost to the City of $1,976.00, as shown by a <br />report at the meeting of the City Council. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: ~at the City Council of <br />the City of Santa Ana hereby expresses its appreciation and the <br />appreciation of the citizens of this City for the public spirited <br />joint effort of individuals and organizations to insure a struc- <br />tural safety of the fixed bleachers to enable continued use during <br />the next two years, and especially wishes to express the appreci- <br />ation to the Gallegos Corporation and Mr. Rudy Gallegos, its <br />president, for taking charge of supervising, managing, and furnish- <br />ing equipment for the doing of said work; to Charles G. Schlegel, <br />member of the Santa Ana Board of Education, who cooperated in said <br />effort; to the Bart Lumber Company and Mr. Wilbur Barr, also a <br />member of the Santa Ana Board of Education; and the Santa Aha Lumber <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
