First Amendment to Agreement with Focus Media Group, Inc., for the Placing <br />of Advertisements and Maintenance of Bus Shelters <br /> <br />Department(s): Public Works Agency <br /> <br />Recommended Action: Authorize the City Manager to execute the first <br />amendment to agreement with Focus Media Group, Inc., for the placing of <br />advertisements and maintenance of bus shelters (Agreement No. A-2025-011). <br /> <br />MINUTES: Councilmember Penaloza asked why it took three years to identify that <br />the restrictions were overly vague and not workable. He expressed concern <br />regarding Public Work’s contract oversight. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Nabil Saba stated the contract was too restrictive and spoke <br />regarding how the issue came to light. <br /> <br />City Attorney Sonia Carvalho explained the issue was initiated by a complaint that <br />was received years after the contract was put into play and the City was responding <br />to a threat of litigation letter that was sent. She spoke regarding the original <br />contract.
