Arevalo, Evelyn
From: Lopez, Jessie
Sent: Friday, February 14, 2025 10:32 AM
To: eComment
Subject: Fwd: Agenda Item 18: Oppose Anti-Electrification Resolution
Sent from my iPhone. We live in Irvine but have looked into moving to
Santa Ana because we LOVE Downtown Santa Ana, especially around The Frida. But air quality
and pollution have been one of our biggest concerns. According to data from CalEnviroScreen
4.0,the City of Santa Ana faces a disproportionate amount of Orange County's pollution burden.
Proposed Rules 1111 and 1121 would make great strides towards addressing public health in the
city. By electrifying gas appliances such as furnaces and water heaters, the city can reduce
residents' exposure to toxic NOx emissions that result in asthma, lung cancer, and cardiovascular
diseases.
Additionally, there are a number of programs that make installation of electric appliances more
affordable for working families. The state's HEEHRA program offers families between $4,000-
$8,000 for installation costs, and South Coast AQMD's Go Zero program provides $1,500 in
rebates for water heaters and heat pumps. Electric appliances are not a burden to Santa Ana
residents -they are a public health benefit that is more within reach than ever.
Please oppose the resolution under Item 18.
Thank you,
—Mack(He/Him)

i
