RESOLUTION 66-44 OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED LEGISLATION <br />TO AMEND THE PROVISIONS OF THE EDUCATION CODE <br />REGARDING LIBRARIES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 1963 major changes in the provisions regulating <br />libraries were made by amendments thereto so that today we have <br />provisions which are the result of joint study and approval of <br />nearly all interested groups; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, new proposals to further amend these provisions <br />regulating libraries and State aid to libraries which would greatly <br />and unnecessarily increase the allocation of State tax revenue to <br />libraries under the new formulas, which this Council does not approve, <br />would, if adopted, render a dlsaervice to the communities of the <br />State and spend vast sums of money which are unnecessary at a time <br />when the State budget is growing at an unprecedented and unsupportable <br />rate. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha hereby declares its complete opposition to the <br />proposed changes of the Education Code regarding libraries now <br />pending before the 1966 Special Session of the California Legislature <br />and urges its representatives and all other legislators:to actively <br />oppose and to vote against any proposed change in the library <br />legislation. <br /> <br />ASS'T <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 4th day of April, 1966. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />DORIS M.
