RESOLUTION 66-75 URGING SUPPORT FOR PROPOSITION W, <br />THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT BOND ISSUE APPEARING <br />ON THE PRIMARY JUNE 7THBALLOT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California <br />must immediately start construction of pipe lines, tunnels, and other <br />facilities to distribute water from Northern California through <br />Southern California to insure a continuation of adequate water <br />supplies and has placed an $850,000,000 Water Bond issue on the <br />June 7th ballot which will be identified as Proposition W; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Northern California water is necessary to <br />continue our present metropolitan flow and to greatly increase the <br />same to provide for future growth and insure against curtailment in <br />dry periods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the continued prosperity and continued growth of <br />Southern California in general and Orange County in particular depends <br />upon a dependable and consistent supply of our most critically needed <br />commodity, water, and this bond issue will spread the cost over the <br />long period of benefit and avoid an abrupt and very material tax <br />increase to require the present citizens of the area to pay the entire <br />cost in the next few years for the use of the area for the next fifty <br />years. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA that all voters in this City, the County of Orange, <br />and the Southern California area are urged to support and vote "YES" <br />on Proposition W, the most important and necessary measure on the <br />June ballot, to keep taxes down and guarantee a continued supply of <br />water. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 16th day of May, 1966. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />DORIS M.
