RESOLUTION NO. 67-38 OP THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SkNTA ANA RELkTING TO <br />LEGISLkTION TO REVISE THE MkYO-BREED <br />FORMULk FOR THE AT.LOCATION OF STATE GASOLINE <br />TAXES <br /> <br /> WI~EREAS, true State highway needs for the Southern Counties <br />group, based on the urgency of traffic demands and the provision of <br />equal State-wide traffic services, are in excess of 60 per cent. of <br />the State-wide total; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the continuing critical traffic congestion, accidents, <br />and fatalities in the Southern Counties area must be immediately <br />alleviated; and <br /> <br /> WHEREkS, the future economic and sociological growth and <br />development of the 13 Southern Counties is directly related to adequacy <br />of construction of a highway and freeway system; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, based on the pertinent indices of population, vehicle <br />registration, and assessed evaluation, the 13 Southern Counties provide <br />in excess of 60 per cent. of the State-wide highway revenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREkS, the obsolete Mayo-Breed Formula presently provides for <br />an allocation of only 55 per cent. of the State-wide Highway and <br />Freeway Construction Funds to the South, which allocation curtails the <br />budgeting of urgently needed projects and precludes a program of <br />equitable future facilities in this area; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana endorses and urges the adoption of a legislative <br />program to amend the Mayo-Breed Formula to allocate a minimum of <br />60 per cent. of the State Highway Construction Funds in the Southern <br />Group. <br /> <br /> PkSSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 3rd day of kpril, 1967. <br /> <br />kTTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORkNGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANk ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, DORIS M.
