RESOLUTION NO. 67-70 OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED <br />ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1419: ACCESSIBILITY <br />OF PUBLIC BUILDINGSFORHANDICAPPED <br />PERSONS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has become <br />aware of the nature and content of Assembly Bill No. 1419; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, although the Council is sympathetic to the objective <br />of this Bill which is to eliminate architectural barriers of access <br />to public buildings for the physically handicapped; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council believes that the proposed measure which <br />would impose mandatory state standards upon all local governments <br />would result in excessive construction costs and delays; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council believes that the access problems of the <br />handicapped can be handled more effectively and more economically <br />at the local level where municipal officials are more aware of <br />and responsive to local needs and conditions. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />the City of Santa Ana hereby expresses <br />Bill No. 1419. <br /> <br />That the City Council of <br />its opposition to Assembly <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />kna at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of May, 1967. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OP CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, DORIS M.
