RESOLUTION 68-5 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA CREATING A CITIZEN-GOVERNMENT ADVISORY <br />COMMITTEE FOR TP~AFFIC SAFETY <br /> <br /> WHEP~EAS, the National Safety Council reported its inventory <br />of the traffic safety activities of the City of Santa Ana, which <br />report recommended the creation of both governmental and citizen <br />advisory committees; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council appointed a subcommittee consisting <br />of two of its members for the purpose of studying the traffic safety <br />within the City of Santa Ana; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this subcommittee made its study and reported its <br />findings and recommendations to the City Council at its regular <br />meeting held on the 18th day of December, 1967; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the recommendations contained in the report were <br />accepted by the 6 to 1 vote of the City Council; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />city of Santa Ana does hereby appoint a committee of eleven (11) <br />persons, to be known as "CITIZEN-GOVERNMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY"; seven (7) of the members to be selected from the <br />citizens of the City of Santa Aha. The remaining four (4) members of <br />the committee shall be representatives of the following governmental <br />units: Office of the Superintendent of Schools, the Traffic Engineering <br />Section of the Department of Public Works of the City, the Traffic <br />Section of the Santa Ana Police Department, and the office of the <br />City Manager. <br /> <br /> Vacancies from the "citizen" members of the committee shall <br />be filled by appointment by the City Council, to serve at their <br />pleasure. The remaining four members shall be appointed by their <br />respective department heads to serve at their pleasures and may be <br />replaced from time to time as each department head in his sole <br />discretion may decide. <br /> <br />year. <br /> <br />The committee shall meet not less than four (4) times each <br />The responsibilitie~ of the Committee shall be: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />To discuss official responsibility for traffic safety, <br /> resolve inter-departmental problems and provide <br /> coordinated planning and action for traffic safety and <br /> relief of congestion; <br /> <br />(b) To make recommendations to the Santa Ana City Council <br /> for consideration and action; <br /> <br />(c) To consider matters referred by the Santa Ana City <br /> Council; and <br /> <br />(d) To hold public hearings on those matters when so <br /> instructed by the City Council. <br /> <br /> As rapidly as possible after the organization of the committee, <br />at its first meeting it shall cause to be prepared a list of the <br />specific areas toward which it proposes to direct its efforts. These <br />declarations shall be submitted to the Council for review. The <br />Council shall then delineate the areas within the general framework <br />submitted that it considers to be of primary current importance and <br />to which the efforts of the committee will be most fruitful. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of January, 1968. <br /> <br />CLEP~K OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
