RESOLUTION 68-61 AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE <br />BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY REQUESTING <br />EXCLUSION OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA, CALIFORNIA, FROM THE LEVY OF ANY ORANGE <br />COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION <br />AND MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is a municipal corporation now <br />existing as such by virtue of a charter granted under the laws of <br />the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the california Government Code §25643 provides that <br />the Board of Supervisors shall except from the levy of any tax for <br />structural fire protection all property within a city petitioning <br />therefor where the petition is supported by a resolution adopted by <br />the city council which makes certain findings. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana hereby finds and declares that Santa Ana is an <br />incorporated City which has in operation and existence an organized <br />fire department that, at the time of adopting this Resolution, and <br />for many decades last past, has been adequately staffed by competent, <br />well-trained personnel under outstanding leadership, equipped with <br />modern fire fighting equipment of all necessary kinds, and sufficiently <br />supplied with fire fighting chemicals, which said Department has access <br />to the Santa Ana water system maintained at high pressure; that the <br />excellence and adequacy of said Fire Department, its equipment, <br />chemicals, and personnel and the water system of the City, including <br />the reservoirs and mains and the pressure of the water supply for <br />fire fighting purposes, have been determined by the National Board of <br />Fire Underwriters, Committee on Fire Prevention and Engineering <br />Standards, to be among the best in the State of California and the <br />best in Orange County, California, so that Santa Ana now has the <br />lowest fire insurance premium rate existing anywhere in this area; <br />that Santa Ana is now providing adequate structural fire protection <br />to all property within the incorporated limits of the City and that <br />no additional benefit in fire protection is or would be received or <br />required by such property from structural fire protection given by <br />the County of Orange. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: ~at the said City Council hereby <br />authorizes and directs that a petition be presented to the Honorable <br />Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California, attached to and <br />supported by a certified copy of this Resolution, petitioning said <br />Board to exclude and except from the levy of any tax imposed by the <br />County of Orange for structural fire protection all property within <br />the limits of the City of Santa Ana, California, and Carl J. Thornton, <br />City Manager, is hereby autho~zed and directed to sign said Petition, <br />a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, and to present the <br />original thereof, together with a certified copy of this Resolution, <br />to the said Board of S~pervisors before July 1, 1968. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the city Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of May, 1968. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE 'COUNCIL <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
