RESOLUTION NO. 68-97PROTESTING THE
PROPOSED ABANDONMENT OF LAWSON WAY
BY THE CITY OF ORANGE

WHEREAS, the City of Orange has set a public bearing for
June 25, 1968 to consider the proposed abandonment of Lawson Way, an
unimproved road situated entirely within the corporate limits of the
City of Orange; and

WHEREAS, Lawson Way is a proposed direct connection to the
Garden Grove Freeway and was designed to bring traffic southerly from
the Freeway into Santa Aha and could connect ultimately with a pro-
posed extension of Memory Lane; and

WHEREAS, the proposed direct connection of Lawson Way with
the Garden Grove Freeway and the future indirect connection with the
Santa Aha Freeway via the extension and future connections of Broadway,
Memory Lane, and the northerly off-ramp for Main Street (Bush Street)
with Lawson Way will also be of tremendous economic importance to
both the cities of Orange and Santa Aha; and

WHEREAS, Lawson Way is a very vital portion of the future
traffic circulation pattern for the property in this northerly area
of Santa Aha which is currently undeveloped, but for which very
intense and valuable development is anticipated in the near future
and its elimination will greatly add to the traffic volumes on Main
Street thereby seriously impeding the traffic flow and aggravating
the present worsening congestion problems to a point where even
partial relief will be very expensive and lengthy and complete
correction will be impossible;

NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the City Council of the
City of Santa Aha that an objection to the proposed abandonment of
Lawson Way be made on its behalf before the Orange City Council at
its public hearing on June 25, 1968, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee, the
Freeway Signing Co~unittee, Mr. Samuel Hurwitz, Bullock's Department
Store, and all other interested groups requesting assistance in this
matter.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 17th day of June,

ATTEST:

CLERK OF THE COUNCIL

1968.

MAYOR ~

STATE OF CALIFORNIA)
COI/NTY OF ORANGE )
CITY OF SANTA ANA

SS

I, DORIS M.
