RESOLUTION 69-86 TO THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION <br />OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO ENCOURAGE THE ESTABLISH- <br />MENT OF DIRECT AIRLINE SERVICE BETWEEN THE ORANGE <br />COUNTY AIRPORT AND SACRAMENTO <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is now pending before the Public utilities <br />Commission of the State of California an application to provide <br />direct airline service between Orange County and Sacramento; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County is a nationally recognized major <br />metropolitan area and is the County with the second highest <br />population in the State of california; and <br /> <br /> WIqEREAS, there does not now exist direct airline service <br />between Orange County and Sacramento; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is becoming an increasing hardship for business- <br />men, educators, local governmental officials, and other citizens <br />to travel by surface transportation the long distances and extra <br />hours to airports outside of Orange County for air travel; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all of the citizens and governmental entities of <br />Orange County will benefit from regularly scheduled airline service <br />to Sacramento; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Public utilities <br />Commission be requested to provide a Certificate of Convenience <br />and Necessity to permit scheduled, direct airline service between <br />Orange County and Sacramento; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Public Utilities Commission <br />be urged to expedite its procedures so that this necessary service <br />will become available to the citizens of Orange County at the <br />earliest possible date. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of Ma~ 1969. <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, FLORENCE I.
