RESOLUTION 69-125 PROCLAIMING RICHARD M. NIXON <br />TO BE ORANGE COUNTY'S FIRST CITIZEN OF THE CENTURY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON, thirty-seventh President of the <br />United States of America, was born in the City of Yorba Linda, <br />Orange County, California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he and the family into which he was born are <br />representative of the finest in the American tradition of religious <br />faith, love of country, industry, and independence; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON's educational career, at both <br />Whittier college and Duke University Law School, is an example of <br />true academic excellence; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON distinguished himself by honorable <br />service in the armed forces of his country; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON's career as lawyer, United States <br />Congressman, United States Senator, Vice President and President <br />of the United States has been marked throughout by meritorious <br />conduct in the service of his country and intense personal conviction <br />as to the worth of the American ideal; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, RICHARD M. NIXON has, by his words and deeds, <br />demonstrated an unwavering determination to preserve the system <br />of individual liberties upon which this Republic was founded; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the city Council of <br />the City of Santa Ana, California, in recognition of his many <br />outstanding qualities, names and proclaims RICHARD M. NIXON to be <br />"ORANGE COUNTY'S FIRST CITIZEN OF THE CENTURY". <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of September, 1969. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, FLORENCE I.
