RESOLUTION 70-23 <br />SPECIAL RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one of Orange County's own, James B. Utt, a member <br />of Congress of the United States of America, has been called to his reward <br />at the age of 70 years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for nearly eighteen years Congressman Utt served in <br />the House of iRepresentatives, expressing his views without compromise, <br />and acting in a truly representative capacity for the citizens of his 35th <br />District; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Congressman Utt devoted a great portion of his life to <br />service to others, at both the State and Federal levels, applying his legal <br />talents to that enterprise; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Congressman's integrity and fidelity were never <br />heard drawn in question, as befits a public servant; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in all regards, his efforts were directed toward the <br />betterment of his beloved Orange County, earning him the respect and <br />gratitude of his fellow local residents; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, for itself and for <br />the citizens it represents, expresses its profound feeling of great loss at <br />the passing of James B. Utt, United States Congressman for the 35th District; <br /> <br /> 2. That the City Council extends its sympathies to Mrs. Utt, <br />Charlena, and to their son, James, at this moment of their great loss; <br /> <br /> 3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Speaker of <br />the House of Representatives, John W. McCormack, in order that that <br />great body may be made aware of the devotion felt for the late "Jimmy" <br />Utt by those persons whom he represented so faithfully. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, <br />California, at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of March, 1970. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Clerk of the Council <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, FLORENCE I.
