RESOLUTION 70-25 <br /> <br />SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION FOR CHIEF <br />JOHN GARTHE UPON THE OCCASION OF t~IS RETIREMENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, JOHN GARTHE, Fire Chief for the city of Santa Ana <br />since July 15, 1948, has now retired from said position; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~EAS, the career of Chief Garthe as a full-time city <br />employee began on December 1, 1927, when he became a fireman; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chief Garthe is a man held in highest esteem by <br />not only fire department personnel throughout the country but also <br />by community and state leaders who are aware of his unceasing and <br />fruitful efforts to improve the lot of his fellow men; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the career of Chief Garthe with the Santa Ana Fire <br />Department is of such an exemplary and commendable nature as to <br />have brought to him already many accolades from a broad spectrum <br />of society; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, considerable local pride is felt in the ability <br />to claim Chief Garthe as our own; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, individ- <br />ually, collectively, and in a representative capacity for the <br />citizens of this fine city, extend to Chief John Garthe its <br />sincerest, most heartfelt thanks for those years of devoted service <br />which he has given to his fellow citizens and for the many benefits <br />of a job well done. <br /> <br /> 2.
