RESOLUTION 70-34 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIEDP~NIA, P~EQUESTING THE <br />BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE <br />TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO BE HELD ON JUNE 2, <br />1970, WITH THE STATEWIDE DIRECT PRIMARY <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 2, 1970, PURSUANT <br />TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the city Coun'cil of the City of Santa Ana has <br />called a special municipal election in the City of Santa Ana to <br />be held on June 2, 1970, for the purpose of submitting to the <br />qualified voters of the City of Santa Ana a proposition for the <br />amendment of the Santa Ana City Charter as hereinafter in this <br />Resolution set forth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal <br />election be consolidated with the statewide direct primary election <br />to be held on the same date and that within the City of Santa Ana <br />the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two <br />elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the <br />County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal election <br />and that said statewide general election and special municipal <br />election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETEP~MINE AND ORDER, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section <br />23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County <br />of Orange be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to <br />the consolidation of a special municipal election with the statewide <br />direct primary election on Tuesday, the 2nd day of June, 1970, for <br />the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa Ana <br />a proposition to appear on the ballot as follows: <br /> <br />Shall the Charter of the City of Santa Ana: YES : <br />be amended to delete Article VIII, dealing : : <br />with the establishment and regulation of : : <br />the Santa Ana Board of Education in order : : <br />that State code provisions pertaining : NO : <br />thereto may control? : : <br /> <br /> Section 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized <br />to canvass the returns of said special municipal election which it <br />is hereby requested to consolidate with said statewide direct <br />primary election and said election shall be held in all respects as <br />if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall <br />be used. <br /> Section 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to <br />issue instructions to the County Clerk of Orange County to take any <br />and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. <br /> <br /> Section 4. The City of Santa Aha recognizes that additional <br />costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation <br />and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs. <br /> <br /> Section 5. That the Clerk of the Council of the city of <br />Santa Ana is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this <br />Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the County Clerk of <br />the County of Orange. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the Cityl~f Santa <br />Ana at its regular adjourned meeting held on t~e 30th dayVof March, <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
